Traffic police has registered a decrease in the total number of accidents in its latest 2017 annual traffic and road safety report.
Releasing the report, the head directorate Traffic and road safety Steven Kasiima revealed that the accidents reduced from 14,474 registered in 2016 to 13,244 with more than 3,000 being fatal.
Kasiima observed that out of these reported accidents, a total of 3,503 died while more than 10,000 were left seriously injured.
He adds that Kampala metropolitan south topped the regions with the highest traffic accidents followed by Kampala metropolitan north, east and the Albertine region respectively.
Kasiima meanwhile says 197,529 people were fined for various traffic offenses attracting more than shs 17 Billion to the force.
