Youth Minister Evelyn Anite has appealed to the Electoral Commission to look for funds to organize youth council polls.
This is after the commission revealed this week that it had a funding gap of Sh.70bn, affecting several election activities including polls for special interest groups.
Addressing journalists this morning, Anite says Youth Council polls should be prioritized because they are the majority and need clear leadership.
She adds she has called a meeting on April 28th with youth leaders at all levels to address the transition of youth leadership.
Anite says there is need the to amend the election law to align the youth term with the constitution that stipulates a 5 year term rather than the current four years served by youth leaders.
