The police in Mbale district are holding a 47 year old woman for allegedly strangling her 3 year old son to death.
The woman identified as Mary Aleki a resident of Mvule cell in Namatala ward allegedly committed the offence on Saturday under the influence of alcohol.
According to her neighbour, the single mother reportedly drunk too much alcohol and returned home at about 2 am and strangled her son on claims that her gods had demanded that she sacrifices the child to them.
The Elgon region police spokesperson Diana Nandawula has confirmed the incidence saying the suspect has been arrested as investigations continue.
