The Court in Nakawa has issued a warrant of arrest against the FDC head of the women’s league Ingrid Turinawe over treason charges.
The same court has also slapped treason charges against aides to FDC Party President Col. Kizza Besigye and remanded them to Luzira prison.
Those detained are Sam Mugumya, the political assistant to Col. Besigye and Francis Tumwijukye the head of the FDC youth wing.
According the charges sheet, the three are alleged to have held meeting and mobilized other people to participate in activities to overthrow the government.
They are alleged to have conducted activities in the districts of Kampala, Mityana, Hoima and Wakiso.
The trio is alleged to have had plans to launch persistent riots meant to weaken the government and have it overthrown.
Nakawa grade one magistrate Agnes Nambafu has remanded the two Luzira prison until the 31st of October when the case comes up for mention as investigations are reportedly still ongoing.
The same court has ordered the arrest of Ingrid Turinawe over the same charges.
