Ugandan peace keepers deployed in Somalia recently have been warned against unprofessional conduct.
The warning has been sounded by Lydia Wanyoto, the Deputy Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission.
Speaking at the closure of the weeklong training on gender issues, Wanyoto urged them to offer their best while in Somalia and leave a positive mark.
She says the training that attracted over 40 female and male officers is in line with the mission’s pre-deployment procedures.
Wanyoto adds that the officers have been equipped with knowledge on the role of peacekeepers in protecting civilians and how to monitor, respond, prevent, evaluate and address Sexual Exploitation and Abuse.
This comes as the UN continues to investigate reports of sexual abuse by some UPDF officers.
