The police was this afternoon heavily deployed at the Democratic Party Headquarters in Kampala where a group of party supporters has this morning stormed the party office causing chaos.
The group led by one Lusembo Musa and Comedian Kato Lubwamis protesting the decision to call a delegates conference by a new leadership which they claim is illegal.
According to Deputy Publicity Secretary for Kampala District Dan Kigozi, the group smashed windows of the party president and Secretary General MatthiasNasubuga making away with keys, vital documents and computers among other items
Meanwhile in Masaka, some members have also threatened to boycott the party national delegate’s conference over irregularities in the recently concluded grass roots elections.
The members claim that they have on several occasions petitioned the party top leadership to intervene and organize fresh elections for Masaka district leadership in vain.
Florence Namayanja Bukoto –East Constituency MP says they have now prepared a written petition to the National Executive Committee.
However, Masaka DP Organizing Secretary Innocent Katerega insists that they were legally elected.
