US Mission in Kampala

The US government says Uganda can achieve faster economic growth if the youth are supported and empowered economically.

The Assistant Secretary for Educational and Cultural Affairs at the American Embassy in Uganda Evans Ryan says government must support the youth to come up with new business innovations to foster economic growth.

Currently the Uganda’s annual GDP growth rate is at an average rate of 5.6 %.

Speaking at a ceremony to hand over a  Sh.50 million Shilling grant to support Ugandan youth entrepreneurs, Ryan said majority of Uganda’s population is still young and must be supported to foster economic growth.

Meanwhile, over 500 youth from various African countries are set to converge in the US next month to undergo training in entrepreneurship.
