The Burundi crisis is not forgotten, atleast according to the US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Africa Bureau Amb. Bruce Wharton.
The crisis that broke out in April last year following violent protests against President Pierre Nkurunziza’s bid for a third term has since left hundreds dead and thousands displaced.
One year later, more lives continue to be lost at the international community has been accused of turning its back on the people of Burundi.
However, Amb Warton says work is ongoing though progress is slow.
