The US mission in Uganda has given the all-clear and lifted an alert it issued yesterday urging its citizens to seek shelter.
According to the latest security update on its website, the embassy says that the immediate threat of an al-Shabaab attack has been effectively countered.
It cites the heightened security measures put in place coupled with the coordination it has had with Ugandan authorities as some of the reasons for lifting the alert.
However, it has called for vigilance cautioning that some of the terrorists could still be at large urging citizens maintain heightened security awareness.
It has also urged US citizens in Uganda to review their personal security plans; remain aware of their surroundings, including local events; and take appropriate steps to enhance their personal security such as varying their daily routines and avoiding crowded locations.
Yesterday the Uganda police foiled a terrorist plan in Kampala and arrested a number people suspected to belong to the al-shabab militant group. Some explosive devices were also recovered in the operation.
