In a move meant to improve litigation and management of case files, the Uganda Revenue Authority has automated its legal department.
The e-Litigation system launched this morning by the URA Commissioner General Ms Doris Akol is meant to help improve management of cases from the time they are filed until they are concluded.
According the URA Assistant Commissioner Litigation Mr.Ali Ssekatawa, the network enabled system will handle case management, electronic mail notifications and shared calendars.
These will be complemented by SMS reminders for court attendance and a mobile App for members to be able to access the system on their mobile phones.
Mr. Ssekatawa adds that with a team of just over 20 lawyers handling a portfolio of over 250 cases and applications, the e-litigation system will ease storage and tracking of legal documents through a centralized data base.
