Bodies of the fallen UPDF soldiers will not be handed over straight to their relatives and their identities will not be revealed now.
This comes from the deputy army spokesperson Lt Col Deo Akiiki ahead of the arrival of the remains of the 12 UPDF soldiers killed in Somalia.
The bodies are expected to arrive in the country at 1:30 Pm at the Entebbe Uganda People’s Defence Air force base and will be received by the Deputy Chief of Defence Forces Lt Gen Wilson Mbadi and other UPDF and Ministry of Defence officials.
Speaking to Kfm this morning, Lt. Col. Akiiki said on arrival the bodies will be taken to the military hospital in Bombo and once their relatives have been notified, their identities will be revealed to the public.
The 12 UPDF soldiers were part of the AMISOM peace keeping force in Somalia. They were ambushed by Al-shabab militants as they conducted a night patrol.
