The army has withdrawn its security detail from former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi.
This has been confirmed by the army spokesperson Lt Col Paddy Ankunda who says VIP police is now taking over guard duties of the former Premier.
Earlier there was heavy military and police presence at Mbabazi’s home in Kololo, a Kampala suburb.
Some army and police officers were seen inside while others were outside his compound.
Two police patrol trucks were also stationed near his gate.
This comes nearly a week after Mbabazi was fired by president Museveni as Prime Minister and replaced by former Health Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda whose approval by parliament is set for next Tuesday.
