A Updf truck carrying weaponry was gutted by fire last evening at Kigalama along the Mityana-Mubende road.
It is alleged that the vehicle was transporting armaments to Mubende barracks.
According to officer in charge of fire in Mityana district Viga Afirimani, police rushed to the scene and managed to rescue the truck driver and two others and the container it was carrying after receiving and an emergency call late in the evening.
Viga says the fire was caused by the friction in the tires.
