A UPDF officer has died in a swimming pool at Soroti Flying School.
The body was discovered this morning by one of the office attendants who
was going about his cleaning duties at the school that is under the East African Civil Aviation Academy.
The administration of Soroti Flying School then deployed the aviation police at the gate barring journalists from accessing the premises.
The deceased has been revealed as PTE Mugenyi attached to Uganda Peoples Defense Air Force (UPDAF) working in Soroti Flying School.
The body of the deceased has been taken to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital.
When contacted the 3rd Division acting army spokesperson, Capt. Michael Mingo, said he could not comment on the matter because he still had scanty information.
The news of the officer’s death has disrupted the UPDF recruitment exercise that was going on at the Soroti Sports Ground as some army and district officials who were overseeing the exercise had to rush to the scene.
