The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) on a peacekeeping mission in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have handed over 34 rescued persons to the Congolese national army.
This is a group of men, women, and children who were rescued after aerial raids by the UPDF on different sites occupied by the ADF rebels in Eastern DRC.
According to Major Bilal Katamba, the spokesperson for Uganda’s military operations in DRC, these have been handed over by the UPDF Land Forces Commander, Lt Gen Muganga Kayanja to Brig. Gen. Byangolo Ngondo, of the FARDC.
Brig. Gen. Ngondo tells KFM that this group will first undergo orientation and counseling before being reintegrated into their respective communities.
