The Uganda People’s Defence Forces serving under the African Union Regional Task Force have captured weapons from the Lord’s Resistance Army rebels.
The force operating North East of Sam Ouandja in Central Africa unearthed thirty pieces of Sub Machine guns and twenty seven AK – 47 empty magazines that had been buried by the LRA fleeing from UPDF hot pursuit.
The Commander of the Ugandan Contingent in Central Africa, Col Michael Kabango says the rebels are already experiencing scarcity of arms and already weakening.
The LRA has over the decades been burying weapons when under pursuit for easier escape, with a hope to return and recover them.
However, the UPDF has often discovered these arms caches or the LRA have been chased away too far to return for the arms which have been sometimes discovered by civilians.
