The anti-Otuunu UPC faction says their planned National Council meeting is on today despite a court order issued against the same yesterday.
The former party National chairman Edward Rurangaranga says the main aim of the meeting is to discuss the current situation within the party, which has suffered endless internal wrangles.
Rurangaranga who is also the convener of the meeting says over 450 members of the party are expected to attend.
The Nakawa Magistrate’s Court yesterday issued a temporary injunction blocking the meeting and stopping Rurangaranga and 3 other members from conducting any business on behalf of the Uganda People’s Congress.
The order also targets John Odit, David Pulkol and Moses Nuwagaba, all of whom have openly opposed the leadership of Olara Otunnu.
Speaking to KFM, UPC vice president Joseph Bbossa has warned party members not to attend the meeting saying the organizers nolonger hold any position in the party.
The Party President Olara Otunnu held a similar meeting last week, which some of the party members said was illegally convened.
