UNRA halts works on Kabale-Kisoro damaged road

By Emmanuel Arineitwe

The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has halted works on the damaged section of the Kabale-Kisoro road due to the delayed completion of designs. This has been revealed by the UNRA area engineer, Alison Abenabo.

The section of the road at Bwaara village in Hamurwa town council, in Rubanda district was damaged by heavy rains on May 4, paralyzing traffic flow in both directions.

The affected road connects Uganda to Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Abenabo had earlier attributed the delayed works to the procurement process of the required raw materials.
However, Rubanda District Chairperson, Steven Ampeire Kasyaba wonders how such a process could take more than a month to complete despite endless appeals from the district leadership.
