The United Nations Regional Office for Central Africa has tasked the African Union to increase financing towards efforts to counter the LRA.
In a joint communiqué issued today, the funds will be used to finance and implement reintegration projects and increase humanitarian and long-term development assistance for LRA-affected areas.
In a statement, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Central Africa and Head of UNOCA, Abdoulaye Bathily, says the recommendations will step up military tracking efforts against the LRA.
The African Union Special Envoy for LRA Issues, Lt. Gen. Jackson Tuwei, stressed the need for increasing momentum to achieve peace, security, and development in the areas currently affected by the LRA.
