Contractors and suppliers of services to power distribution company UMEME have expressed fear for loss of business if government goes ahead to terminate
the company’s contract.
Last week MPs endorsed a committee report on energy that the company’s contract be terminated over poor services.
Now the Suppliers and Contractors’ Association is worried about the likely loss of business if the executive goes ahead to approve the report.
The association’s business manager Tom Oluka says they have made huge investments and any change in contract arrangements will greatly affect their operations.
Meanwhile, government too risks losing billions of shillings in compensation to UMEME if the contract is terminated.
