Today April 4th, 2022 is the deadline to have the Ugandan machine passports.
According to the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control (DICC) these are being replaced with International East African e- passports.
Only Ugandans returning from abroad will be the ones allowed to use their old passports but not for any further travel beyond today April, 4th.
Timothy Atwiine is the deputy spokesperson Internal Affairs ministry.
Government launched the international Uganda East Africa e-passport in 2018 and for an ordinary traveler it’s cost is at shs250,000.
