As Uganda is set to be declared free of Ebola disease tomorrow, government has asked the international community to support scientists to carry out speedy trials for the Ebola vaccine.
The Minister for Health Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng says it is important that the Ebola vaccine should be in place to stop the panic which is experienced whenever the country faces outbreaks of the disease.
The minister made the remarks while addressing the donor community at the Ebola virus disease outbreak responsible accountability forum in Kampala.
She says the next outbreak of the disease should find the country when it is ready to contain it through having a vaccine, therefore the vaccine trial process should be supported.
Tomorrow, Uganda and its stakeholders will be holding an event in Mubende district to declare the country free of Ebola, after spending 42 days without new cases of Ebola being reported.
