The Uganda Red Cross Society has been dragged to the Commercial Court over nonpayment of a Shs 1bn debt.
Through Muwema and Mugerwa advocates, Jesani Construction Company Ltd says the money was meant to be payment for installation of sanitary fittings, tiles, windows and doors at offices situated on plots 551 and 555 located along Lubaga Road.
The company claims that in May 2012, the Red Cross contracted it to do the job and was meant to make payments not later than April 20th 2013 but it has not yet lived up to its promises despite repeated demands.
The commercial court deputy registrar Thaddeus Opeseni has ordered the Red Cross Society to file its defence within 15 days.
