Uganda is again in the spot light over Global Fund money.
This time it’s over failure by the ministry of health to distribute food to about 200 Tuberculosis patients.
About US$300,000 was disbursed by the Global Fund to the National TB and Leprosy Programme to cater for feeding Multi Drug Resistant TB patients last year, however due to a failed procurement process the money has remained unspent.
The Oversight Chairperson of the country coordinating Mechanism mandated with monitoring Global Fund money Henry Magara says the procurement process had to be restarted.
When contacted the Health minister Elioda Tumwesigye said he needed more time to consult the technical personnel.
