Uganda today joins the rest of the world to mark the International Day of the Girl Child.
The day marked every 11th October is an international observance declared by the United Nations to support more opportunities for girls, and increase awareness of inequality faced by girls worldwide because of their gender.
Speaking to KFM Sheema Woman MP Rosemary Nyakikongoro says Uganda needs to do more to empower young girls.
She particularly emphasizes economic empowerment which she says will enable girls live more productive lives.
