Over 200,000 hectares of forest cover have been lost annually for the last 10 years.
This is contained in the preliminary findings of a forest tenure project study conducted by Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and Makerere University.
Releasing findings of the study in Kampala, the national coordinator Dickson Langoya says majority of the forest cover is lost in privately managed forests.
He adds that forest cover in private forests now stands at 46% in 2015 from 64% in 2005.
He calls for renewed commitment from all stakeholders to reverse the trend.
