Uganda has commended the government of Japan for its continued support for the infrastructural development of the country.
Officiating at the Uganda-Japan public-private conference for high Quality Infrastructure, the Prime Minister of Uganda, Hon Ruhakana Rugunda said the conference comes at a time when the country has strategized and prioritized infrastructure to stimulate development towards achieving a middle income status by 2020.
Rugunda has lauded the government of Japan for funding most of the construction projects in the country for the last 30 years.
Meanwhile, the Japanese Ambassador to Uganda, Kazuaki Kameda has urged the government to identify challenges facing the country’s infrastructure to get the help it needs.
The conference is a continuation of the 6th Tokyo International Conference on African Development that was held in Kenya last year.
The conference seeks to help local contractors learn and understand the new technologies in civil engineering, promote skills, enhance investment opportunities and promote partnership.
