The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC)has approved acquisition of Orange telecom by Africell telecom.
Africell, a Pan-African telecom group had earlier expressed interest in buying off Orange telecom, but the deal did not materialize and was forced to only buy a small percentage of shareholding.
The UCC boss Godfrey Mutabazi says that the group has now acquired upto 65.93% stake in Orange Uganda.
Orange Uganda has struggled to make an impact in a mobile market dominated by three larger rivals MTN, Airtel and Uganda Telecom Ltd;
