As government move to enforce daily taxing of social, business community is worried about likely increase in cost of doing business in Uganda.

Starting this July, government has started enforcing social media tax, which has been widely criticized as double taxation as well as over burdening the less privileged.

Speaking to Kfm, the chairman Kampala city traders association Everest Kayondo said that many traders have been communicating via social media and thus taxing them against is likely to affect the cost of doing business.

He said that number of people loading airtime is likely to decrease and thus government must consider taxes it’s getting from airtime visa vie what it’s likely to get from taxing social media.
