Government has partnered with local tourism promoters to prioritize the use of culture to back up the country’s efforts to promote Uganda as a tourism destination.
The Chief Executive Officer of Vumbula Uganda, Mr. Demo Riley says cultural values are a key factor in attracting tourists to the country and should not be ignored.
He says this year’s festival concert at Jinja Nile Resort, which is slated to take place on October 25, will allow the festival goers to explore Uganda’s diverse tourism offering in the region.
He says the three-day tourism festival will also mark what he termed as a premium celebration of Uganda’s art, music, culture, and heritage.
He says the festival will also feature a planting session of 300 trees as part of the efforts to preserve the world’s longest river, the Nile.
“We are a consistent and sustainable brand that responds to our community’s needs to enhance the tourism experience with each edition. This time, anticipate a safe and extraordinary celebration of our beautiful country, Uganda,” he said.
Overall, the contribution of travel and tourism to the global GDP amounted to 9.9 trillion U.S. dollars in 2023. This figure was predicted to reach an estimated 11.1 trillion U.S. dollars in 2024.
