Torture survivors have decried the lengthy process of getting compensated.
According to the chairperson of the Uganda Torture survivors Association Fred Baguma, the process is tiresome and often times survivors have had to give up.
Baguma adds that another challenge faced is adducing evidence by the survivors of being tortured.
To Baguma most of the victims are tortured incommunicado in safe houses where it’s difficult to have a witness to prove one was severely tortured.
He is now calling for the change of the evidence law so that people who have involved in unique cases that are difficult to produce a witness are considered for compensation.
