“President Yoweri Museveni has not made any cabinet reshuffle”, said the Uganda Media Centre executive director Mr. Ofwono Opondo.
This was after a “new” cabinet list circulated on social media, igniting heated debate with many reporters in news rooms holding their breath for confirmation from their credible. But that was not to be. It was all but a hoax.
Speaking to KFM on telephone, Mr.Opondo dismissed the list as the work of an enemy of the state. Mr Opondo instead urged the public to ignore the purported new cabinet saying all official government communication is channeled through the mainstream media.
“President Museveni has not made any cabinet reshuffle, ignore the purported list circulating on social media.” Mr. Opondo emphasized.
The social media post comes a day after presidency and Kampala minister Frank Tumwebaze paraded a one Habib Mbowa before the press to confess to having been used by a political camp hostile to Mr Tumwebaze to malign the minister on several internet platforms.
The debate that raged on compelled the Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda and security minister Mukasa Muruli to issue a statement and flash on social media an exchange of correspondence that proved Mr Tumwebaze was on official leave.
