The search for the new Makerere university Vice chancellor, Prof Dumba Sentamu’s replacement kicks off today with the university council slated to institute the search committee members.
Prof. Ddumba assumed office in September 2012, taking over from former Vice Chancellor Prof Venansious Baryamureeba. His term in office expires on 31st August.
Sources say that the council sitting today will select the members of the search committee.
Senate will sit next week to select their members to institute a full committee after which advertisements will be placed in the media to attract the suitable candidates.
The Chairperson of the University Council Eng Charles Wana-Etyem has confirmed the meeting, but says he will only comment after today’s council meeting.
Dumba is still eligible for another five year term after serving his first one.
