The police have this evening fired teargas to disperse supporters of FDC Leader Col. Kizza Besigye in different parts of the city.
Teargas was fired in areas around the New Taxi Park and Yusuf Lule road.
Besigye claims to have been intercepted by the police as he came from Owino Market, where he had reportedly gone for lunch.
He was escorted by the police through Makerere Hill Road, Yusuf Lule road before heading to the Inter-Party Cooperation offices on Katonga Road.
Speaking to KFM, Col. Kizza Besigye condemned the firing of teargas as unnecessary.
The DPC Old Kampala Police station Siraje Bakaleke however denies using any teargas against Besigye.
He says Besigye was just escorted to his office at Katonga Road to avoid causing commotion.
