Teachers in Uganda today join the rest of the world to celebrate the world teacher’s day.
Under the Uganda National Teachers Unions(UNATU), teachers have converged at several worship centres to seek God’s intervention towards improvement of the education sector.
UNATU’s General Secretary James Tweheyo says even with the celebration, the quality of education especially at primary level is still wanting and requires a joint approach from all the stakeholders.
Tweheyo says foundations bodies such as churches and mosques must reclaim their responsibility in managing schools they started.
The day is celebrated under the theme “unite for quality education”.
