Members of the NRM poor youth have embarked on a campaign to solicit for signatures calling for disciplinary action against the party chairman.
The youths accuse president Museveni of incompetence, failure to account for party resources and forming of cliques.
Led by the coordinator Hussein Kato, the youth say the president has failed to account for money collected to construct party headquarters, misused his office to summon the party parliamentary caucus to push his sole candidature bid and also divided the party.
The group also accuses the president of using Youth MP Evelyn Anite to divide the party and conduct early campaigns.
They now want disciplinary action taken against the national chairman.
This comes a day after youths loyal to president Museveni petitioned the disciplinary committee calling for the dismissal of former premier Amama Mbabazi from the party over causing divisions.
However, the presidential press secretary Tamale Mirundi has dismissed this as empty talk, advising the poor youth to first focus on wealth creation
