A total of eight people who earlier got into contact with a confirmed Marburg case have developed signs of the disease.
The Ministry of Health has already taken samples from the suspects for investigation at the Uganda Virus Research Institute in Entebbe.
The suspected cases include four from Mpigi, two from Kasese and two from Kampala.
Preparations are underway to quarantine the suspects as a way to prevent the spread of the disease.
Director General of Health Services Dr. Alex Opio says the National Task force continues to closely monitor all people who got into contact with the Marburg patient who died on September 28th at Mengo hospital.
The surveillance team has listed an additional 17 people who got into contact with the deceased.
Meanwhile the Ministry of Health has today dispatched a total of 300 Personal Protective Equipment to Mpigi Health Center IV and Mengo Hospital.
At Mulago national referral hospital, authorities say they are ready and well equipped to deal with the Marburg outbreak in the country.
Several tents have been set up as the isolation camp for suspected Marburg patients.
Mulago hospital Executive director Dr. Byarugaba Baterana says they are working in partnership with KCCA public health officials to erect tents at the camp that was previously used as an Ebola isolation center.
Dr. Baterana adds that a team of health workers has been set up to monitor all patients to avoid further spread of the virus and items like soap, disinfectants and water have been installed at the entrance of hospital wards.
