The Supreme Court will on Monday next week start pre-hearing of the election petition challenging the 2016 presidential election results.

In a statement, the Registrar of the court Tom Chemutai says all the concerned parties have been invited to attend the pre-hearing conference.

The parties that have been invited include; the Directorate of Legal Service, NRM Secretariat, the Electoral Commission, the Attorney General, Akampurira and Partners Advocates, Muwema & Co Advocates & Solicitors, and Twinobusingye Severino & Co Advocates.

A Pre-hearing conference is a means for settlement of administrative disputes aimed at easy and expeditious disposal of the matter.

On Tuesday this week, former presidential candidate Amama Mbabazi filed a presidential petition seeking nullification of President Museveni’s election that extended his 30-year rule on grounds that the Electoral Commission did not comply with the electoral laws and that there was also outright vote rigging.
