Students will not require guarantors to acquire the loans from the student loans scheme.
This is according to the agreement reached between the members of the parliamentary committee on education and the ministry officials at a meeting held at parliament.
Education minister Jessica Alupo says after a long discussion both parties realized that it will be difficult for children to find guarantors and yet they are needy.
She said there are many other mechanisms for recovering the loan from the students.
Some of the mechanisms for the loan recovery highlighted in the law include working with banking institutions, URA, ministry of internal affairs and local authorities among others.
