Stop Contradicting HIV Messages

Reporter | May 8, 2015

Conflicting messages given by senior government officials are hindering efforts to minimize the spread of HIV in Uganda.

This is according to Civil Society Organisations engaged in the fight against HIV/Aids.
According to Basil Mushabe, the Executive Director Communication for Development Foundation, latest statistics indicate that 375 people acquire HIV everyday despite huge resources invested in intervention efforts.

He says some leaders are contradicting prevention messages already declared by government as effective.

Mushabe cites condom use and abstinence which have been found to be effective among the youth yet some leaders are shooting down.

He was addressing journalists at news conference in Kampala this morning ahead of the Philly Lutaaya Candle- lit memorial.
