Super agent Jorge Mendes has claimed that a £260m million offer for Cristiano Ronaldo was made to Real Madrid by a Chinese club, but the star turned the move down.
Chinese Super League sides have made a massive splash in the transfer market of late, notably signing Oscar and Carlos Tevez in quick succession.
According to the super agent, the unnamed CSL club are willing to pay Real Madrid a world record £260m to release him from his contract and give the 31-year-old a contract worth £1.6million per week
That would make the four-time Ballon d’Or winner comfortably the highest-paid footballer in history, a title now held by Tevez following his move to the Far East.
However, the super agent claimed the Portugal star had turned down the offer in an instant as he is not motivated by money.
