Uganda Cranes ascended aloft of group E in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers following a slim 1-0 victory against Congo Brazzaville at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on Saturday.
Farouk Miya was once again Uganda’s hero as the Standard Liege forward’s first half strike earned Uganda a 1-0 victory over Congo Brazzaville at Namboole on Saturday.
Scorer against Comoros at the same venue in September, Miya exchanged neat passes with substitute Kizito Luwagga to re-echo his importance to the Cranes cause.
Victory, Uganda’s first in two 2018 World Cup qualifying matches, moves the Cranes top of Group E with four points.
Egypt have three points after one match. The Pharaohs entertain Ghana, who drew with Uganda last month, in Alexandria in the group’s other match.
Uganda Cranes sit top of group E with Egypt and Ghana Black Stars’ encounter coming up on Sunday in Alexanderia.
Uganda is yet to concede in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers Russia, having scored five goals in four games including the preliminary round.
Four of those have been scored by Farouk Miya, three against Togo in over two legs and one against Congo on Saturday.
