The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has threatened to block six loan requests by government if famine in the country is not addressed.

The Speaker’s warning followed complaints by Bugweri County MP Abdul Katuntu and Isingiro South’s Alex Byarugaba, accusing government of failure to come up with meaningful interventions against the famine disaster which has claimed several lives across the country.

The members have raised concern over the absence of an action plan on food production, storage and marketing in the face of heavy loans that come with cumulative interests.

However, first deputy Prime Minister General Moses Ali has told parliament that several sub committees have been formed to handle the matter.
