The Court Martial sitting at Luzira Church of Uganda Primary School in a case in which a UPDF officer is accused of murdering 3 people has been adjourned to tomorrow.
This is after Martin Muhumuza, the lawyer representing Lance Corporal Herbert Rwakihembo failed to make it to the afternoon session due to traffic jam.
This followed an earlier adjournment prompted by a walk out by Muhumuza in protest of the lack of supporting documents.
He had told court that he could not proceed without all the documents containing information on the key witnesses in the case.
Prior to the second adjournment, he had also asked that his client be furnished with all the details of the case and charges he faces, prompting the Chairman Col. Godfrey Kakama to adjourn the session for five minutes.
A few minutes into the session, Muhumuza walked out of court, prompting another adjournment to 2:00pm to give him time to decide on whether or not to continue with his representation.
He however still failed to turn up saying he was stuck in traffic at Jinja Road.
The accused was then given 2nd Lt . Alex Mukwana as a sit-in lawyer.
Court has now been adjourned to tomorrow after the 1st prosecution witness Ali Bavawala presented his testimony.
The 27 year old commercial cyclist was allegedly shot in the hip, and a bullet is still stuck in his flesh.
Rwakihembo is said to have committed the offence on December 10th 2012 in Kisenyi zone 3, Luzira Parish, a Kampala suburb, has been sent back to Luzira Prisons.
