Six people have died in a road accident along the Kampala-Masaka highway.
The accident occurred today at around 4 a.m. at Kakoni village in Nkozi subcounty, Mpigi district.
The Mpigi District Traffic Officer Michael Duncan Ensinikweri, says the accident involved a Kampala bound minivan, a Toyota Noah registration number UAL 379T whose driver lost control and veered off the road.
The vehicle then rammed into a Super Custom Reg. number UAW 563E that was heading to Rukungiri.
All the dead were occupants of the Super custom and were heading to Rukingiri for the burial of the deceased Internal Affairs Minister General Aronda Nyakairima.
The deceased have been identified as Jovan -a one and half year old toddler, his mother Agnes Nakalema, Alex Sseremba a.k.a DJ Red, Samuel Ssekitayira -a driver at Kasubi stage, Frank Bukenya and Brenda Nazziwa.
Police have attributed the accident to fatigue, reckless driving and over speeding.
The injured have been rushed to Nkozi Hospital for treatment while the bodies of the deceased have been taken to Gombe Hospital for postmortem.
The wreckages of the vehicles have been towed to Buwama Police Station.
