Another set of co-joined twins has been born at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital in south western Uganda.
The hospital’s Executive Director Dr. George Upenytho has confirmed the development saying they were ready to transfer the twins to Mulago National Referral Hospital for specialized medical care.
The 26 year old mother identified as Katusiime Anabela and her husband Sabira Mwanga have however delayed the process after they turned down the offer to be supported by the hospital.
Dr. Upenytho says the twins are joined in the chest and were delivered by caesarian section.
Dr. Upenytho adds that the hospital doesn’t have capacity to carry out surgery on the twins so the management is still waiting for the parents to give a go ahead before the twins can be transferred to Mulago Hospital where the operation can be done.
