The Court of Appeal has upheld the death sentence handed to seven people who broke into a home in Kijooha Cell Mbarara District and killed a man.
It’s alleged that Twesigye Edson, Peace Kyarimpa and five others on the night of 30/June/2005 robbed and murdered a one Leonard Isingoma whom they shot; stabbed in the neck and back using a gun and panga, after he refused to give them money he had allegedly travelled with from Kampala to pay his workers.
The convicts also robbed the deceased’s wife money worth shs 560,000.
Evidence proved that Kyarimpa Peace a sister to the deceased masterminded the plot to kill her brother and hired her co-accused including Asiimwe Daniel who was the gateman to the deceased, at a fee of 3 million shillings.
Upon arrest Ruth Isingoma wife to deceased, properly identified the suspects as the one who pulled the trigger.
Three justices led by Remmy Kasule agreed with trial judge that the convicts should hang so that a clear message is sent to those that may be harboring intentions of committing such heinous acts; to desist from doing the same.
