The Police have arrested seven people following yesterday’s murder of another Muslim cleric.

Sheikh Abdulrashid Wafula, the Imam of Bilal Mosque in Mbale Town was shot dead last night at around 9pm as he traveled back home.

He was shot five times in the chest.

Speaking to Kfm, the Elgon region police spokesperson Diana Nandawula says preliminary investigations show that Sheikh Wafula was involved in a land dispute over Nakaloke Islamic primary and secondary school.

She explained that they have intensified the hunt for the gun which was used, but will also expand the scope of investigation.
