Senior two students who spent nearly two weeks at school before the government closed off schools will not pay extra school fees when schools reopen in January next year.

This was resolved by stakeholders in the education sector during a hybrid meeting held on Friday.

One of the sources who attended the meeting tells KFM that the meeting resolved that it would be unfair to charge more for learners who spent only two weeks at school.

This will however apply to students who had paid full tuition.

Martin Okiria, the head teacher of Soroti SS and the National Chairperson of Secondary Schools’ Head Teachers’ Association says that his board of Directors have agreed to this new proposal.

The Chairperson of the National Private Educational Institutions Association (NPEIA), Hasadu Kirabira has welcomed the proposal but demands that the govt should issue clear guidelines on school fees.
