Health experts continue to raise a red-flag on self-medication.
The head of the malaria control program Dr. Myers Lugemwa says over the counter treatment options for malaria should be avoided before proper diagnosis is done.
Mugerwa notes that oftentimes people buy anti-malarial drugs without doctor’s prescription which is dangerous.
He says this will in the long term lead to drug resistance which will further frustrating efforts to eradicate malaria.
